Job Description Summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of movie production? Sunbelt Film & TV, previously known as William F. White International Inc. (“WFW), the largest movie equipment rental company, is looking for a Film Equipment Technician to join us. With offices across the country, Sunbelt Film & TV services productions of all sizes from coast to coast and houses an extensive state-of-the-art inventory. Our job is to help bring the magic of storytelling to life, by supporting our clients as their go-to Partners in Production.

To better serve the production industry’s growing ambitions, our Halifax team is looking for the perfect candidate to join us in the role of Film Equipment Technician. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Dartmouth, Halifax and the general hours of work Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm).

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems related to lighting fixtures and ballasts to determine the source of the issue and take corrective action to repair the problem.
  • Process equipment in a safe and efficient manner to meet manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Perform minor repairs to miscellaneous lighting equipment and associated accessories as required. Assist in the maintenance/repairs of grip equipment, cable, distribution and stands etc.
  • Assess active-equipment inventory levels and react in accordance to the needs of the Lighting & Grip Department, LES Department and Specialty Department.
  • Advise management of equipment defects or damage or any customer concerns arising from equipment issues or counts.
  • Pull orders, load and unload trucks. All counts to be performed to the highest standard of accuracy.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Electrical knowledge and experience an asset
  • Electronics experience an asset
  • Previous experience with lighting equipment repairs would be an asset
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience would be considered an asset
  • Further training will be provided to the accepted candidate.
  • Training provided for company rental & parts inventory software program
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
