General Manager

Sunbelt Rentals--the fastest growing rental business in North America--is seeking a General Manager. As a General Manager, you will be responsible for the continued development of a line of portable heaters and air conditioners at a 30 person manufacturing facility in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The responsibilities are broad ranging and dynamic. From hands on, team interaction centered around new product development and design, to gathering data and feedback from field based work, this position will touch all facets of the business. A degree in mechanical/ electrical engineering, as well as strong business management and leadership background would best suit this positions' requirements. In addition, experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, leading teams in all phases of product development would be highly beneficial; however, there will be flexibility for the ideal candidate.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead multiple PCs
• Be responsible for all aspects of P&L performance
• Create for the future a business strategy by coordinating with other Company leaders
• Develop and dial in current products to meet customer demands and quality standards
• Coordinate with Sunbelt teams to identify high potential equipment to build, thereby growing the line of products produced at PSW.
• Oversee and manage equipment certifications with approved agencies
• Work with production staff to gear up for and dial in productions of equipment
• Coordinate with management team to build prototypes
• Gather information from field applications regarding performance and appropriateness of manufactured products
• Represent products at specified trade shows
• Work with Sunbelt teams to identify potential new equipment designs
• Enhance the performance and safety of current designs to provide the greatest benefit to the customer
• Gather information on industry competitors
• Provide product demonstrations to potential customers
• Establish professional relationships with current and potential vendors. Negotiate aggressively.
• Provide product support for all units produced
• Write or coordinate with technical writers to produce high quality service and operations manuals
• Create equipment training classes for service and sales staffs
The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
